SOUTH BEND, Ind. --
Monday marks the deadline for Hoosiers to register to vote for the May 8 primary election.
Voters who have registered to vote in the state of Indiana do not need to register again. However, voters may need to update information if they have moved to a new location within the state.
To register to vote, update voter information, check polling locations or to see early voting options, voters can go online here.
New this year, voter registration can be completed on a smartphone by texting the word 'Indiana' to 2VOTE (28683).
Voters must meet the following eligibility requirements to register:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be at least 18 years old on the day of the election
- Have lived in the precinct for at least 30 days before the next election
- Not currently imprisoned after being convicted of a crime.
- Voter registration will reopen after the May primary.
Voters with questions can call the Hoosier Voter Hotline at 866-IN-1-VOTE.
