Indiana woman charged with OWI while driving vehicle that was missing a tire

GARY, Ind. – The Indiana State Police (ISP) arrested a woman on Tuesday who they say was driving drunk on the I-80 Interstate while in a vehicle that was missing the front passenger tire.

An ISP trooper spotted 46-year-old Sherry Sanchez of Portage was driving her SUV at 55 miles an hour near Broadway Street in Gary, Indiana.

Despite missing a tire, Sanchez managed to drive on her car rim.

The trooper noticed that Sanchez’s car was swerving as he pulled her over..

The trooper then administered a breathalyzer test to Sanchez and it was revealed that her Blood Alcohol Concentration level was three times the legal limit.

Sanchez said that she did not realize that something was wrong with her car. She also said that she was on the way to provide care for a patient in Chicago.

Sanchez was taken into custody at the Lake County Jail and she was charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Failure to Yield to Law Enforcement Stationary (Move Over Law), and Operating on Highway with non-compliant vehicle.
