Indiana woman is dead after crash on State Road 75

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. – One woman is dead after a car crash early Saturday morning.

Indiana State Police and Clinton County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle crash on State Road 75 near Clinton County Road.

Amanda Grimes, 40, was driving southbound on the State Road when she traveled off the road and allegedly overcorrected causing her to travel across the center line.

When Grimes crossed the center line into northbound traffic, she was struck by a police car driven by Clinton County Reserve Sheriff’s Deputy William Amsler, 58.

The crash caused both vehicles to end up in the east ditch.

Evidence revealed that Deputy Amsler was on a call at the time and his emergency lights and siren were activated.

Grimes was eventually transported to an Indianapolis hospital where she died due to her injuries.

Deputy Amsler was transported to a local hospital and complained of pain.
