ABC57 ARTS & ACTS: Indie rock band formed at Notre Dame will perform at Lollapalooza
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A Midwest band with South Bend ties is getting ready to perform at one of the biggest music festivals in the world, Lollapalooza.
Julia Steiner says she came to Notre Dame to study journalism. It wasn't until she met guitarist Dave Sagan freshman year that they formed Ratboys.
Since 2010, the band has been hitting all genres from indie to folk rock and country.
The band is currently working on their sixth studio album, set to be released early next year.
Steiner says playing in Grant Park is an absolute honor and an amazing opportunity to put more Midwest artists on the map.
"Our goal is always just to keep people on their toes and do a little bit of everything, the excitement, the rock and roll. There's nothing more exciting for me than kind of trying to hold people's attention in that environment with something maybe a little bit more inward or quiet," Steiner said.
The Ratboys are scheduled to play next Thursday, July 31, the opening day of Lollapalooza at the Bud Light stage.
