Injured man runs into Mishawaka streets for medical attention

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- On Tuesday, officers with the Mishawaka Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Cleveland and Fourth Streets for a reported stabbing around 2:45 p.m.

"Upon arrival on scene, officers found one male victim suffering from a severe laceration," MPD Sgt. Ryan Hiipakka said. "It was determined that the injury was sustained [in the 300 block of] Cleveland St., and the victim left this residence to seek assistance."

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.

A follow-up investigation indicated to authorities that the injury was not the result of criminal activity.

Authorities did not say if the injury resulted from some kind of accident, only that no crime was committed.
