UPDATE: The LaGrange County Sheriff's Office says the man's family has been notified and his identity has been revealed as William Howard Ellis of Sherwood, Mich. 

"The investigation is ongoing through Steuben County Sheriff’s Office," the LCSO said.

ORIGINAL: LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Steuben County Sheriff's Office is investigating an inmate death that occurred on April 12 at approximately 2:28 p.m., a 37-year-old male was found unresponsive in a cell at La Grange County Jail, lifesaving measures were taken but unsuccessful. 

More information will be released after the family is notified and the investigation is complete.
