Inmates from Westville Correctional Facility help clean up South Bend

Inmate crews from the Westville Correctional Facility have provided labor to help clean South Bend following the recent flood.

At the request of the governor’s office, the Indiana Department of Corrections has assigned two crews of 10 inmates to the effort.

“We are always glad to lend a helping hand to our neighbors and communities at times like these. The inmates tend to feel a sense of value and purpose in assisting a community in need.” says Mark Sevier, Superintendent.

The IDOC says inmates began work with supervision on Monday and will provide assistance until no longer needed.
