Inn at Saint Mary's lighting "World’s Largest Valentine’s Tree" Feb. 1
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Local residents may remember this past holiday season the Inn at Saint Mary’s lit up what organizers called the largest decorated outdoor Christmas tree in America. Three months later, the tree is being decorated again for Valentine's Day.
The Inn at Saint Mary's will host a tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1.
The 87-foot Norway Spruce was harvested from a local home where it had to be cut down due to overpowering, said Kim Allsop, the General Manager of the Inn at Saint Mary's.
It will now be decorated with 62 heart ornaments, 150 pink, red, silver, and gold ball ornaments, and dazzled with bright and soft white lights.
The lighting ceremony is free, open to the public, and will feature free cookies and hot chocolate.
"At the tree lighting event, The Inn at Saint Mary’s and Holladay Properties will be partnering with Hannah’s House," event organizers said. "As part of the partnership, they will match financial donations made during the tree lighting ceremony. Additionally, they will be collecting essential items from the wish list on Hannah’s House’s website. A donation bin will be available at the tree lighting. A coupon will be given for a free beverage at the INNJoy Cafe for any donation."
