Investigators have person of interest in murder of 7-year-old Chrisyah Stephens
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Investigators have a person of interest in the killing of a seven-year-old in South Bend.
Chrisyah Stephens was at a birthday party on Donald Street in late August when she was killed in a drive-by shooting. Since then, police, family members and community leaders have pleaded with the public to come forward with any information that could lead to an arrest.
Wednesday, the commander of the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit, Mike Grzgorek, confirmed there is a person of interest in the investigation, but provided no additional information. So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
“I am encouraged by the cooperation we have gotten from the community, as well as the number of tips that have come in, and continue to come in," Grzgorek wrote in a text to ABC57. "I would like to reiterate that we [are] still asking for anyone with information to please come forward.”
