Irish Lewis-Moore out for rest of season

NOTRE DAME – After a tough loss to USC on Saturday, the Fighting Irish are losing once again, but this time from their roster.

"Kapron will be out for the season,” said Head Coach Brian Kelly during Tuesday’s weekly press conference.

Staring Defensive End Kapron Lewis-Moore injured his knee during the USC game.

“He actually detached the medial collateral ligament, didn’t tear it, he detached it,” said Kelly.

Kelly said it was an unusual injury. "It's like an ACL repair. We're still talking four to six months, but one that I haven't seen in 21 years, and our doctors have seen very rarely, so it was hard to get a good assessment on him until the MRI yesterday,” said Kelly.

Freshmen Stephon Tuitt is listed as this week’s starter, with Freshmen Chase Hounshell as back-up.
