Irish win! Notre Dame beats Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Fighting Irish beat the Demon Deacons 24-17, after trailing by seven at the half.

Notre Dame and Wake Forest University were both 5-3 on the season before Saturday night’s match-up at BB&T Field.

The Irish won the coin toss, but then got off to a rocky start. Wake Forest tried to set the tone early with a touchdown by Brandon Pendergrass.

Notre Dame first answered with points on the board with 6:15 left in the first quarter with a field goal by David Ruffer.

Irish tied up the game 10-10 with a touchdown by Tyler Eifert, but were still behind at the half, 10-17.

The team came back onto BB&T Field with no sign of looking back, leaving the Demon Deacons scoreless the rest of the game.

The Irish pulled ahead with a third quarter touchdown by Jonas Gray and sealed the win with an appearance in the end zone by Michael Floyd.

Notre Dame is now 6-3 on the season and travels next Saturday to face Maryland at FedEx Field.
