ISP needs help solving 1975 murder
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Cold case detectives with the Indiana State Police are searching for anyone with information that could help them solve a 1975 murder.
On August 7, 1975, the body of 17-year-old Laurel Jean Mitchell was found in the Elkhart River in Noble County.
She was last seen leaving work at Epworth Forest in North Webster at approximately 10:15 p.m. the evening before.
Police need help identifying a group of young people who performed as a singing group at the Cokesbury Inn inside Epworth Forest on the night of August 6, 1975.
The members were between the ages of 16-22 years old. They traveled in one vehicle and may have stopped at the North Webster fire station around 10:30 p.m. on August 6. They are believed to be from the Delphi, Indiana area.
