ISP seizes 259 pounds of marijuana during traffic stop on the toll road

Indiana State Police seized 259 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road.

Around noon Wednesday, a trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2007 Chevy pickup truck near mile marker 120 on the Toll Road.

During the traffic stop, a K-9 unit with the La Grange County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and the K-9 conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle.

The K-9 alerted on the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 259 pounds of marijuana, according to police.

The driver and passenger were both arrested.

Carlos Silva Rivas, 28 of White City, OR was taken into custody on preliminary charges of dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana.

Margarito Alvarez, 41 of White City, OR was taken into custody on preliminary charges of dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana.
