IUSB participates in worldwide IU Day
SOUTH BEND, Ind. --
Students at Indiana University South Bend are participating in the third annual IU Day with an IU Day @ Riverfest Event on campus. This is one of hundreds of events happening across six continents.
Festivities will last from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Student Activities Center on campus. Those include a festival with live music, games, food and giveaways. The event is open to the public.
Those attending will also have the opportunity to help end hunger in St. Joseph County by preparing bags to be delivered for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
Organizers say IU Day continues to grow in popularity every year with new aspects added. A crowdfunding project was added to the event this year in support of a scholarship for student veterans.
"We found that our student vets face a lot of challenges as they both begin their academic career and as they end it," said Mallory Jagodzinski, Assistant Director of Alumi Relations at IU South Bend. "Benefits only last for a certain amount of time and they also take a good amount of time to process, so we want to make sure that we are supporting our student vets and that they are getting the education that they need and deserve."
Donations towards that scholarship can be made here. More information on IU Day can be found here.
