After closure in 2020, YMCA reopens in downtown
Ivy Tech Community College South Bend-Elkhart welcomed Austan Goolsbee, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, for a special event at the school's Larry and Judy Garatoni Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Automation Tuesday evening.
Local business and community leaders, elected officials, and Ivy Tech students and faculty had a chance to listen and learn from Goolsbee in his first major speech since he began the role in January.
"I think having an opportunity to spend time with business leaders and being really hands on and very open and authentic in this conversation as we continue to identify some of the challenges around housing around economic development around education and the role that Ivy Tech plays in skilling up the workforce and continuing to provide programming and academic excellence for our students as well," said Dr. Tia Robinson-Cooper, Chancellor of Ivy Tech South Bend-Elkhart. "I think hearing his vision and some of his key points around economic development and mobility is really instrumental as we continue to come together as a region in order to address what our economic growth can be."
