Juvenile arrested after pursuit and early morning shooting of 17-year-old and dog

UPDATE: Authorities have confirmed with ABC57 that a 17-year-old male was shot suffering non-life-threatening injuries, along with a dog struck by that same gunfire. 

The dog was transported to an animal hospital for treatment while the male was transported to a nearby hospital. 

Officers located a potential suspect, which then led to a pursuit through various areas of South Bend and Mishawaka. 

The driver eventually exited the vehicle and was detained after a brief on foot chase. 

The suspect is a 16-year-old male and was detained at the Juvenile Justice Center. 

This investigation is an active and ongoing investigation by the SBPD Violent Crimes Unit.

ORIGINAL STORY: SOUTH BEND, Ind, -- South Bend Police responded to a call of shots fired around 1:40 a.m. this morning. 

There is one victim with nonlife threatening injuries from the shooting.
