Juvenile arrested for resisting, theft of firearm after police chase on U.S. 31

A juvenile and one other person were arrested on Saturday after leading a state trooper on a chase through two counties with a stolen handgun in tow, according to Indiana State Police.

During the chase, the suspect vehicle allegedly reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

The incident ended near the Lincoln Highway overpass after nearby deputies deflated the suspect vehicle’s tires, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a median.

The juvenile driver and their passenger, 18-year-old Emmanuel Luna, were taken into custody.

No one was injured in the incident.

Upon investigating, law enforcement discovered the juvenile didn’t have a license, and that a handgun in the vehicle was reported stolen out of Michigan.

The juvenile was preliminarily charged with resisting law enforcement, theft of a firearm, two counts of reckless driving and driving without a license.

Luna was preliminarily charged with theft of a firearm.
