K9 Faust finds alleged home invasion suspect

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – A K9 with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office tracked down a suspect accused of home invasion on Monday evening, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

At 6:21 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a home invasion in the 2600 block of Lake Shore Drive.

When deputies arrived to the scene, they were told by residents in the area that a suspicious person carrying a backpack was cutting through yards in the area, reports said.

K9 Faust was then instructed to track the suspect. Faust tracked the suspect for about one mile and found the backpack involved in the home invasion, deputies said.

The track continued into a large field and the suspect was found hiding under thick underbrush.

The 41-year-old man was taken to the Cass County Jail and faces charges of home invasion, possession of meth, and larceny over $200, deputies said.

The Pokagon Tribal Police Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office in this incident.
