Kidprint child identification system helps keep kids safe

A new tool to keep kids safe debuted in Mishawaka.

Police launched the new Kidprint ID program that was funded with the help of Lexus of Mishawaka.

The Mishawaka Police Department developed the tool to address community concerns of missing children.

This new high tech tool gives parents access to important information about their kids at their fingertips in an emergency, where every second counts.

Lieutenant Tim Williams of the Mishawaka Police told us a little about this exciting safety measure.

“We're actually debuting our Kidprint identification system, where we can actually make credit card sized ID cards for children with their name, their height and weight on it,” remarks Williams.

Registered kids get the credit card sized ID card that also includes their fingerprint and a recent picture of them along with other safety tips.

If you live in Mishawaka and would like to get your child registered---just swing by the department or give them a call at 574-258-1678. You can also visit their website for more information.
