Kitten rescued from car engine

A registered nurse who was leaving Memorial Hospital at the end of her shift discovered a kitten in her engine compartment early Friday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m., Stephanie Tobias got into her car and heard a faint meow coming from under the hood of her car.

Tobias called security and Officer Ron Goze responded to the call.

According to spokeswoman Heidi Prescott, Officer Goze had to jack up the vehicle and remove part of the wheel well to rescue the kitten.

But the scared kitten still didn't want to come out.

It took about 25 minutes for Goze to finally get the kitten out of the car.

Tobias took the kitten home.
