Knife found in student's possession at Grissom Middle School
MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Grissom Middle School informed parents that a few items were confiscated from a student on school property today. These items included a blade, a multitool and a knife.
The administrator observed the student showing a blade to friends during 7th grade lunch, which warranted to the search.
According to the email from Grissom, there were no threats made, but the school wanted to encourage parents to talk with their kids about safety and check backpacks and pockets before they leave for school, as well as remind them to not bring any weapons.
The email also reminded parents that Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation utilizes the Safe School Helpline as a confidential way to report student concerns about weapons, bullying, or any other potential safety threats.
