Kokomo couple is arrested on 21 criminal charges
KOKOMO, Ind. - On Friday at approximately 3:11 pm, two Indiana State Troopers were requested by the Howard County Probation Office to assist in a compliance check in Kokomo.
While assisting with the check, troopers allegedly observed a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine out in plain view.
During a subsequent search of the apartment, officers purportedly found heroin, methamphetamine, prescription pills, syringes, a digital scale, marijuana and approximately $556.00 in US currency, and drug paraphernalia.
Justin Harrison, 31, and Sharitina Shepard, 42, were taken into custody and face 21 charges.
Harrison faces 11 charges and Shepard faces 10 charges.
Some of the charges include two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, neglect of a dependent, and obstruction of justice.
Harrison faces an additional charge for dealing methamphetamine.
The couples 8 year old daughter and 2 year old son were also present during the search and they were released into the care of the Howard County Division of Indiana Department of Child Services.
This is an ongoing investigation.
