Krasl's Chihuly glass sculpture taken down for cleaning

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. --  The Chihuly glass sculpture at the Krasl Museum in St. Joseph was is in pieces--for cleaning.

The glass sculpture was taken down Thursday so that all 244 individual pieces could be cleaned by artists flown in special for the project.

The reason they are doing it, is to replace the light bulbs and the only way to do it is to take the entire thing down.

About $41,000 have been raised to fund the project.

The museum is temporarily closed so the bulbs can be replaced and the sculpture reassembled.

It should reopen Sept. 21.
