La Grange girl attends Kids' "State Dinner" at White House

A La Grange 8-year-old attended the Kids' "State Dinner" at the White House on Thursday. It was part of First Lady Michelle Obama's Healthy Lunchtime Challenge.

There were 56 winners, one student from each state and several US territories.

Shakthi Ramachandran won for the state of Indiana.

She won for her recipe for Chicken Tikka Pita with Cucumber Raita.

The Healthy Lunchtime Challenge asked students to come up with a lunch recipe that is healthy, affordable and tasty.

The winner from Michigan was Ethan Yodzevicis, 10, from Gaylord, Michigan.

His winning recipe was Super Stuffed Squash
