La Porte County deputies arrest Buffalo man accused of being serious violent felon
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. - La Porte County deputies arrested a man accused of dealing narcotics and unlawful firearm possession during a traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road Tuesday morning, according to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrested 41-year-old Michael Hendricks of Buffalo, New York on the charges of dealing in a narcotic drug and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felony.
At 8:10 a.m., a deputy was monitoring traffic on the Toll Road, near mile-marker 48, when he saw a red passenger vehicle allegedly driving too closely behind another vehicle.
The deputy pulled over the vehicle near mile-marker 53 and identified the driver as Hendricks.
Probable cause was established to search the vehicle and inside, deputies found a large quantity of illegal pills and a Grand Power K100 9mm handgun, reports said.
Hendricks is being held at the La Porte County Jail on a $50,005 cash-only bond.
