La Porte County drug task force recovers firearms and machine gun conversion devices

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- Detectives with the La Porte County Drug Task Force, recently executed a residential search warrant in La Porte County as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

During the operation, detectives recovered six firearms and six machine gun conversion devices and made one arrest.

The search warrant was conducted as part of a continued effort to identify and disrupt criminal activity involving illegal firearms and dangerous weapon modifications. Machine gun conversion devices are designed to alter semi-automatic firearms, allowing them to fire at a significantly increased rate and creating a substantial risk to public safety.

"The recovery of these firearms and machine gun conversion devices demonstrates the importance of proactive enforcement efforts and strong partnerships among law enforcement agencies," said Sheriff Ronald C. Heeg. "These illegal devices have the potential to dramatically increase the danger posed by firearms in our communities."

ABC57 will share updates as they become available.
