Breezy but warming up today
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- Three students from La Porte County have received the 2022 Neil Thompson Memorial Scholarship, given in honor of the fallen patrolman.
Thompson was killed in the line of duty in 1980 and remains the only member of the sheriff’s office to have died while on the job.
A scholarship was created for families of department employees after his death.
This year’s recipients are Alexis Becker, Nicholas Boyd, and Roman Piergalski.
