La Porte man receives eight years, four months in prison for dealing drugs

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- According to the United States Attorney's Office, on Thursday, Mar. 19, a 43-year-old man accused of dealing drugs has been sentenced to 100 months in prison after being convicted of Distribution of Methamphetamine.

The 43-year-old, Edward Trevino of La Porte, was convicted of Distribution of Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. As Trevino has a prior felony conviction for residential entry, he was no longer allowed to possess one.

Trevino was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison before three years of supervised release.

According to documents in the case, Trevino was found during a traffic stop to have a loaded gun, methamphetamine, and clear plastic baggies in a bag alongside his ID. He was also found to have sold methamphetamine to another person.
