La Porte Police conducting death investigation

La Porte Police were called to a home on Rockwood Street around 8:30 p.m. Saturday after a man was found unconscious.
A resident told police she went to check on the 44-year-old man after she heard a loud thud in his bedroom.
When she went in the room, she said he was unconscious and had rolled off the bed onto the floor.
Police located drug paraphernalia nearby. Presumptive field testing on the items showed positive for heroin.
The man was transported to IU Health La Porte Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.
