La Porte Police to conduct extra patrols to crack down on aggressive drivers

LA PORTE, Ind. -- The La Porte Police Department will be conducting Aggressive Driving patrols during the weeks of July 4 celebrations and the La Porte County 4-H Fair.

Officers will be working extra hours from June 21 to July 14 to patrol those who are committing dangerous moving violations that could contribute to traffic crashes.

These efforts are for Operation Pull Over which is a safety grant program funded by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

The overall goal is to reduce traffic crash injuries and fatalities by promoting seat-belt use and deterring impaired and dangerous driving.

The department will be cracking down on texting and driving violations as well.
