Lake Michigan rower on last leg of incredible journey

NEW BUFFALO, Mich. -- The 27-year-old woman who is rowing around the coast of Lake Michigan was in our area on Tuesday.

Jenn Gibbons rowed from St. Joseph to New Buffalo on the last leg of her voyage.

Gibbons started the venture back in June with row4row.org, an organization that raises money for breast cancer.

The Chicago woman gained much attention in July when she was sexually assaulted while resting for the night in her boat in the Upper Peninsula.

She told us it was unexpected to become a spokesperson for sexual assault victims, but she is glad she has a platform to tell her story now.

"Women that are victims of sexual assault don't always have a voice like this, but being able to share this, I hope can help other women in their own healing process as well," said Gibbons.

Gibbons will row from new Buffalo to Michigan City on Wednesday.

She hopes to finish her voyage next week.
