Lakeshore Schools' van crashes into home, three children inside

SAINT JOSEPH TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Three children were uninjured after the school van they were riding in slammed into a home just after 3 p.m. Monday.

It happened at a home on Garden Lane outside of Brown Elementary School.
According to the Saint Joseph Township Fire Department, the driver of the Lakeshore Schools’ van was pulling out of the school parking lot and suffered a heart attack.
The driver’s weight pushed down on the accelerator and drove the van into a neighboring home’s garage.
Three children inside were pulled from the car uninjured. Gary Maynard with the Saint Joseph Township Fire Department said it could have been worse. “Luckily there were no kids out in the street,” he said. “Some of them could have gotten hit and severely injured.”
Nobody was in the garage at the time of the collision. The driver was transported to Lakeland Hospital in severe condition.
