Landslide hits Washington state

COUPEVILLE, Wash. -- Almost 20 homes had to be evacuated because of a massive landslide at Whidbey Island, north of Seattle Wednesday.

Authorities do not worry about further damage.

"Looking at the extent of damage to the road, I think that area is going to be isolated for the foreseeable future," said Fire Chief Ed Hartin, Central Whidbey Island Fire Department.

Island County authorities said no one was hurt but one home was destroyed by mud and debris.
