Lane closures, traffic reconfiguration planned for US 20 due to construction
INDOT LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- INDOT announced there will be several traffic switches on US 20 between I-94 and S.R. 2 due to ongoing construction work.
INDOT officials say the inside left passing lanes will close in each direction on US 20 between Fail Road and C.R. 250 E on or after June 22, so traffic will utilize the right driving lanes.
On or after June 25, the inside left passing lanes will also close from S.R. 39 to Fail Road in preparation for work in the area.
This shift is scheduled to be in place until or after June 29, when the westbound lanes will be changed into two-way traffic between S.R. 39 and C.R. 250 E. The eastbound lanes will be closed for widening work.
The work between US 35 and C.R. 400 W and between C.R. 250 E and C.R. 500 E on the east and west ends of the project area are nearly done, with alternating lane closures for final cleanup and miscellaneous work.
INDOT says there will be dedicated left turn lanes at county road intersections, but none for the remainder of the work zone.
The project is expected to be done by the end of November.
Drivers are encouraged to be cautious and allow extra time while traveling through this area.
