Lane restrictions on Sample Street begin Monday
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Temporary lane restrictions will begin on Sample Street on April 5 as crews work on the Sheridan and Sample Streets Signal Improvement Project.
The Signal Improvement Project involves shifting and reconstructing the existing curb lines on the south corners of the intersection to improve turning movements for large vehicles.
The project also includes installing new pedestrian and traffic signals, lighting at the intersection, and Americans with Disabilities Act curb ramps.
The intersection will remain open with restrictions during construction. No smaller vehicles turning south onto Sheridan will be impacted.
Eastbound commercial truck traffic wanting to turn south onto Sheridan will be redirected to the Olive Street roundabout and come back westbound.
Construction is expected to be complete by the end of June, weather permitting.
