LaPorte Co. investigators meet with ATF about IED
Deputies with the La Porte County Sheriff's Office met with an agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives concerning the IED located on Monday.
Deputies turned over evidence collected during the investigation.
"We are hopeful that the ATF will be able to send that material to a lab and they may help us identify either through DNA or fingerprints and also the powder residue where some of those materials may have come from and ultimately lead to who was responsible for making that device," said Captain Mike Kellems of the La Porte County Sheriff's Office.
A resident located the IED while cleaning trash from the roadside.
When she became concerned about the device, she contacted the sheriff's office.
The Porter County Bomb Squad detonated the device.
