Local crash survivor meets with dispatcher and first responders...
LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. --The call for a fire came in at 11:30 a.m. with dispatch confirming the woodland fire is happening at the 5600 block of East State Road 4, which is still active now with multiple departments on scene all day.
Volunteer fire department personnel from various townships have been battling fires all day throughout the county.
The fires initially began with fallen leaves and are spreading out of control due to dry and breezy conditions, with the fires forcing deputies to close roadways while fire personnel work to contain the fires spread.
Property owners have been asked to refrain from burning leaves any further today.
