NOW: LaVille boys hoops top Oregon-Davis to complete perfect regular season

HAMLET, Ind. - Boys basketball sectionals are right around the corner, meaning teams across the area are hoping for a strong finish in the final week of the regular season.

LaVille captured that goal of a strong finish, beating Oregon-Davis 51-46 to complete a perfect record through the regular season.

The Lancers trailed after first three quarters, but scored the first 12 points in the decisive period.

"I'm just happy for our guys," said LaVille head coach Michael Edison. "They played extremely hard. A lot of credit goes to O-D. They're a fun team to watch, except for tonight. Not a team you like to face every night and we're glad we don't."

The Lancers finished the regular season with a 23-0 record, defeated teams from all four classes. However, Edison says the 2A Sectional they'll play next week will be some of the stiffest competition the team has faced.

LaVille is one of two teams with a first-round bye in Sectional 35, hosted by Westview, and will play the winner of Westview and Prairie Heights.

"[I know] Westview is one unbelievable team so we've got our work cut out for us," he said. "We've got some time to prepare for one of those two teams that we'll play and I think the guys will try to be ready and we'll do our best."

LaVille's semifinal game will be played on Friday, March 2 and if they survive that round, the championship game will be on Saturday.
