LCSO welcomes body armor donation for K9 Riot

UPDATE: The vest was successfully delivered to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office and K9 Officer Riot on Oct. 30.

ORIGINAL: LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- On patrol, K9 officers face the same dangers that their human counter parts do but are often less protected. That is about to change for La Porte County Sheriff's Office K9 Riot, who is being donated a bullet and stab protective vest.

The charitable donation comes from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

"K9 Riot’s vest is sponsored by Joyce Lingle of Brooklyn, Ind., and will be embroidered with the sentiment 'This gift of protection provided by Joyce,'" the LCSO said.

Delivery of the vest is expected within ten weeks.
