Leaf pickup schedule for Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. -

The leaf pickup program in Elkhart will begin in Zone A (yellow in map) the week of October 12th through October 16th in the neighborhoods south of the Saint Joe River and West of 3rd Street/Main Street.

Zone B (orange in map) pickup will be the week of October 19th through October 23rd in the neighborhoods north of the St. Joe River and west of Johnson Street.  

Zone C (green in map) leaf pickup will be the week of October 26th through October 29th in the neighborhoods north of the St. Joseph River and East of Johnson Street.

Zone D (red in map) leaf pick up will be the week of November 2nd through November 6th and includes all neighborhoods south of the St. Joseph River and East of 3rd Street/Main Street. 

The Street Department crews say the leaves will automatically be picked up so there is no need to contact the Street Department to give an address.

Citizens are reminded to rake the leaves to the street but to not put the leaves in the street.

You may feel free to bag the leaves but the department asks that you do not put limbs, trash, stone, and brick in the leaf piles.

The department asks that the branches/limbs be in a separate pile.

Garden waste such as floral or vegetable may be placed on top of the leaf piles but not mixed in.

The Mayor encourages citizens to watch out for children playing in the leaves.

The department also reminds residents that the regular weekly trash service will not pick up leaves to take to the landfill.

The Mayor appreciates the cooperation of everyone during this time with the removal of leaves.
