Leaf pickup schedule for the city of Elkhart
Elkhart Mayor Tim Neese announced the leaf pickup schedule for this spring.
The leaf pickup program will begin in Zone A on Monday April 4 through April 8 in the city of Elkhart. Zone A includes neighborhoods south of the St. Joseph River and west of Third/Main Street.
Zone B pickup will be April 11 through 15 in the neighborhoods north of the St. Joseph River and west of Johnson Street.
Zone C pickup will be April 18 through April 22 in neighborhoods north of the St. Joseph River and east of Johnson Street.
Zone D pickup will be April 25-29 in the neighborhoods south of the St. Joseph River and east of Third/Main Street.
The city is asking residents:
- Rake the leaves to the curb, not in the street.
- There should be no limbs, trash, stones or bricks in the leaf pile.
- Any limbs or branches should be placed in a separate pile.
- Garden waste, such as floral or vegetable, can be placed on top of the leaf piles, but not mixed in.
In May, residents will also be allowed to place 2 regular bags of leaves in with their weekly trash to be taken to the landfill.
