League for Encouraging Empowerment to hold scholarship fundraising dinner
CASSOPOLIS, Mich. - Local non-profit, League for Encouraging Empowerment (LEE), is continuing their 2024 Martin Luther King Jr. theme of “Advancing the Dream”, on March 16 at the Church of Cassopolis with a scholarship fundraiser dinner and ceremony.
Tickets are $20, and organizers say all proceeds will go towards scholarships for graduating seniors at Ross Beatty High School in the names of Dan Lee and Elizabeth Pittman.
Lee and Pittman were committed to helping the youth in the Cassopolis community.
Organizers explain that Lee was the originator of many sports events for local youth and Pittman was a social worker and founding board member of LEE.
Last year LEE said they were able to give out two $500 scholarships and $25 gift cards to the other seniors who applied for them.
Diriki Mose, Bernard Thomas, and Breana Bowsher are the speakers for the ceremony.
Some local school officials are also said to be attending.
Individuals can sponsor by giving $50 or more and organizations can be a sponsor by donating $100 or more for the scholarships.
LEE says they will be acknowledged in the programs and on their website page.
