Learn about local species at 'Bird Walk' in Ox Bow County Park

DUNLAP, Ind. - Elkhart County Parks invites residents to Ox Bow County Park for a "Bird Walk" on Wednesday, February 7, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. where you'll learn about unique adaptations and social behavior of birds during winter.

During the bird walk the group will seek to observe some of the park’s feathered friends, such as Pileated Woodpeckers, Barred Owls, and Winter Wrens.

Park officials will also teach easy ways to tell birds apart by sight and sound.

Rain or shine, organizers say all activities will take place outside, so participants are encouraged to dress for the weather.

The event is free and open to ages eight and up. No registration is required.

The group will meet at the Ox Bow Haus Shelter in Ox Bow County Park, located at 23033 C.R. 45 in Dunlap. The group will head out at 8 a.m.

Park admission will be waived for all participants.
