List of 2022 Juneteenth celebrations

A number of Juneteenth celebrations will take place this weekend across Michiana.

BERRIEN COUNTY

Benton Harbor Juneteenth Cultural Awareness Committee

A Juneteenth parade and celebration will take place on June 18 from 1 to 6 p.m. in downtown Benton Harbor. The parade begins on Main Street at 1 p.m. followed by a celebration at City Center Park featuring food and vendors. More info

City of Goshen

The City of Goshen will celebrate Juneteenth on June 19 from noon to 4 p.m. at Shanklin Park. The celebration will include food vendors, performances, and regional artisans. More info

Lowdmouf Entertainment

A Juneteenth celebration will be held on June 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Historic Roosevelt Center Park in Elkhart. The event will feature live music, food, and Black-owned businesses and organizations. More info

Pedigree Entertainment

The Father’s Day/Juneteenth Comedy Explosion show is set for June 18 starting at 8 p.m. at the Century Center. The show will feature local musicians and comedians Kenny Howell, Damon Williams, and Sonya D. More info

South Bend Chapter of Indiana Black Expo

The South Bend Chapter of the Indiana Black Expo will host its annual Juneteenth celebration on June 19 from noon to 5 p.m. at LaSalle Park. The celebration will include live music, local vendors, and a skills contest. More info

A special airing of “Soul of a Nation Presents: Sound of Freedom - A Juneteenth Celebration” will air on ABC57 on June 17 at 8 p.m. EST. The program takes a look at the legacy of the holiday through the lens of current political and social tension.
