Local company teams up with St. Joseph Regional to support breast cancer

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Tuesday, the South Bend Chocolate Company teamed up with the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and gave away free chocolate bars.

The free chocolate bars were given away to women who scheduled a mammogram for October on the hospital's Mobile Medical Unit.

The 40-foot clinic on wheels houses a medical exam area and mammogram unit, plus health information and education.

"Studies have proven that if you have a mammogram every year, you have a 71% chance of finding the cancer. And the sooner you find it the sooner you can take it out," said Mammographer Denise Hammerquist.

Women must be at least 40-years-old and have a health-care provider to receive the results of those mammography scans.
