Local firefighters gather to honor those lost in 9/11 at "Ringing of the Bell" Ceremony

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Michiana honors the lives lost on 9/11 at St. Patrick's County Park, hosting the annual "Ringing of the Bell" ceremony at Freedom Memorial where steel recovered from the Twin Towers still stands.

Local firefighters gather to pay their respects to the loss of fellow first responders.

"For me, it's about thinking about what they were thinking when they were going up the steps, what they were thinking about when unfortunately, people were jumping because that was the best option that they had. So, to me, it hits it hits a little hard today. For me, it's I just reflect on that." says Clay Fire Assistant Chief of Services Kieth Kwieran.

The St. Patrick's County Park has been holding the "Ringing of the Bell" Ceremony since 2003.
