Local girls volleyball coach faces 26 counts of Child Exploitation
La Porte County Jail: Paul R. Fasshauer LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A girls volleyball coach at South Central Community School Corporation has been arrested and is facing numerous felony counts of Child Exploitation following a cybertip through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
The La Porte County Sheriff's Office reports 46-year-old Paul R. Fasshauer of Union Mills is facing 26 counts of Child Exploitation, all Level 4 Felonies.
Authorities say in May the NCMEC received a report made by Snapchat regarding activity involving suspected child sexual abuse material.
The cybertip was then forwarded to the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. La Porte County detectives with ICAC began investigating in July.
Authorities say they identified the person associated with the activity as Fasshauer.
Investigators say they uncovered further evidence and were able to establish probable cause for Fasshauer's arrest.
On Tuesday, deputies with the US Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Fasshauer on C.R. 600 West near C.R. 1000 South.
Right after his arrest, detectives executed a search warrant at Fasshauer’s nearby residence.
On Tuesday, Dr. Benjamin Anderson, South Central Community School Corporation Superintendent, confirmed Fasshauer is a girls volleyball coach in the district and that he has been placed on unpaid administrative leave effective immediately.
Anderson sent out the following statement to district staff and families:
"At approximately 2:45pm today, South Central Schools administration was notified by the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office that our girls volleyball coach, Paul Fasshauer, was arrested. Mr. Fasshauer has been placed on unpaid administrative leave effective immediately. He has also been formally trespassed from South Central Schools property. Coach Ashley Rinker will assume the role of interim head coach for the varsity volleyball team.
