GOSHEN, Ind. -- After 43 years of serving the Goshen community and 19 years leading the Goshen Fire Department, Chief Dan Sink is retiring from his role and passing the torch to new chief, Anthony Powell.
“Impact may have to be measured by other people, that’s hard for me to say. I’m hopeful that I influenced positively and worked with people in a compassionate but very passionate way to help them at the worst time in their life,” expressed former Chief Sink.
At the Change of Command Ceremony held by the City of Goshen Fire Department, the community reflected on the impact Chief Sink made in the decades of dedication he put into the fire department.
It’s also a new chapter for Chief Powell. He was appointed Assistant Fire Chief in 2021 and now has the new title of chief after taking the Oath of Office.
“I hope I’m looked upon as a mentor one day, I’m still, you know I’ve learned a lot but I’m never going to be done learning,” said Powell.
