Local manufacturing company holding robotics competition
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- To get more people involved in programming and manufacturing the company, Viewrail in Goshen is holding a robotics competition next month.
The manufacturing company is advancing its manufacturing techniques and are introducing automation into their processing.
Chief Leadership Officer, Troy Burns said the competition is a way to let people know what the company has to offer and to get people involved in automation and robotics.
“They just need to bring their knowledge and their skill, and be able to then do the programming required to be able to do those tasks,” Burns said.
The competition is a four-round tournament with teams made up of three to five individuals. During each challenge, teams will be paired with a robot and will be given a task provided by the companies robotics manufactures. Each team must complete the tasks within a certain amount of time. Each task will be scored on how long it takes a team to complete, and the winning team receives a cash prize of $5,000.
“This is a way to kind of get us on the map a little bit and say, hey we’re here,” Burns said. “This is what we are pursuing, take a look at some of the things we are doing, and let’s have a fun way of doing it, with this competition.”
The competitions will take place on October 2-3. Teams can register here. The tournament will take place at 1753 Eisenhower Dr. in Goshen.
