Local Michiana church making cards for a cause
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A local Michiana church is hosting a series of 25 things to do during Lent.
The program for the Lenten series, Living Matthew 25 was developed by First Presbyterian Church of South Bend Outreach Committee Chair and former staff member Phyllis Wezeman.
The local church has started making Care grams for community members, and on Sunday, March 13 you community members can write words of encouragement to show that they wish them well.
Wezeman said the Care grams will be sent to homebound congregation members, and residents at local shelters to let them know that they matter. And River Montessori High School is partnering with the church to make these care grams that'll be sent out later this week.
Wezeman said it means a lot to people who are on the receiving end of these care grams. You can join the First Presbyterian Church of South Bend starting at 11 a.m. to make cards to help cheer up folks who love social interaction but are unable to leave their house or make encouragement cards for those in local shelters.
“That someone who doesn’t even know them in the case of some of the people who are in shelters, they just need to know that there are people out there who are encouraging them, who are thinking of them, who are wishing them well,” Wezeman said.
You can help make care grams starting at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of South Bend.
